Every result starts with knowing where you actually stand.
That’s the whole idea behind our Hygiene Growth Roadmap — and it’s exactly what led to one of my favorite recent client stories.
We worked with a coaching client who had a lot going for them already: great culture, hardworking hygienists, and a doctor who’s invested heavily in his own continuing education. On paper, this looked like a practice that had it figured out.
But when we completed their Hygiene Growth Roadmap — our deep-dive assessment of a hygiene department’s strengths and opportunities — we found something eye-opening: their perio percentage was sitting at just 4%.
That number matters more than it might seem. A perio percentage that low usually means active periodontal disease is going undiagnosed and undertreated, patient after patient. Not because the team doesn’t care — but because the standards and systems aren’t there yet to catch it consistently.
That single insight became the starting point.
With clear standards of care in place and a team that believed in them, this practice closed the gaps and elevated the level of care they were delivering. Perio percentage climbed from 4% to 14% — and hygiene production grew by almost $14,000 a month along the way.
This is what I mean when I say diagnosis-driven care isn’t just better for patients — it’s better for the practice, too. When hygienists are equipped to think diagnostically, everyone wins.
